Blue River Valley – Part II with Johnson County Parks and Recreation District
You may be familiar with the “Mighty MO”, but the Blue River is truly the life force of Kansas City. 2/3 of rainfall in the metropolitan area flows through the Blue River Watershed. Beginning in Johnson County, Kansas it flows through Kansas City, Missouri spanning 41 miles to join the Missouri River. People, plants, and wildlife depend on clean water to survive. Join Deep Roots as we explore landscapes along the river, meet organizations that advocate for its health, and discuss ways to enjoy recreational activities in the Blue River Valley.

Urban Green Rooftop Garden – Growing Season
This month Deep Roots returns to the TWA rooftop native garden to see mid-summer blooms. See green infrastructure supporting native wildlife in the Crossroads Arts District in KCMO. Ask your native gardening questions to our guest experts during the live Q&A. Learn how planting native in urban areas create beauty and healthy landscapes – no matter the footprint of the garden!

Native Gardening with Pop Culture Aesthetics
When it comes down to it, cultivated spaces are determined by your gardening goals. Join artist and self-proclaimed “native plant nerd”, Cydney Ross as she explores unique gardening aesthetics using Midwestern native plants! From “Cottagecore” to “Goth” and “Mid-Century Modern” to “Tropical” see a dazzling array of native plant palettes to consider for your home gardens. This light-hearted presentation is a creative way to learn more about midwestern native plants. Late fall is a great time to plan your native gardens.
